The Karachi Cleanup Operation - Really Across The Board? Few Questions Need Answers!

Ever Since its inception, it has been noticed that CRIMINALS from all walks of life affiliated with all sorts of parties are being vehemently pursued by law enforcing authorities throughout the city. This was taken as a positive step towards restoring the law and order situation of Karachi and for the good of all Karachiites. Although many perpetrators of serious or should I say, heinous crimes were apprehended during this clean up operation, there have not been any arrest or prosecution of the actual minds behind the these activities. To be simple and precise, the 'Kings & Queens' are still at large and only the 'Pawns' are being knocked down.

Moreover, there is no information even regarding the small-timers' trials and where the prosecution stands in this regard. How can the hopes of the general public rise when the 'Ringleaders' are either fleeing the country, or being acquitted through 'Media Trials'?

For the past few months it is being propagated in public media and very loudly so, that the current Karachi operation is not against a particular political party or ethnic group. The ground reality however, tells a different story altogether.

The situation of Karachi is rather a complex one in nature as compared to other cities of Pakistan. It is not only the largest city of the country, but also the economic hub generating over 3 quarters of the country's entire revenue. People from all parts of Pakistan come here to earn their livelihood. Along with those in search of legal means of income, the criminal elements also find it a place conducive for their  nefarious activities. This makes it all the more important to keep the city free from all sorts of crimes and lawlessness.

There are all sorts of iniquitous activities taking place in this huge metropolis. Street crimes, bank robberies, target killings, drug business, political & judicial corruption are only few out of a long list. Though it seems to be just a bunch of criminals on the loose in town, the true picture is far more alarming than the obvious. Its not only ordinary crooks that are having their way, enemies of the state both foreign and domestic are also playing the devil's game here. Their objectives besides being monetary gain are none other than the destruction of the city and hence, our beloved country Pakistan - God forbid.

Coming back to our topic, it seems there is no one taking any concrete steps towards restoring Karachi's peace and security. 'Economic Terrorism' for that matter is a recent term being used by few media persons especially on electronic media. All sorts of extortion, land grabbing, money laundering and corruption is prevalent in the country without any respite for the poor citizens of Pakistan. Who and what is going to put an end to this and how and when?

Further to all of the above, it has been observed that till date, the main focus of attention is on a single political party, its leadership, workers and sympathisers. The general public of Karachi fail to understand the "Logic" behind this and very rightly so. Following are few critical questions being raised by the society with regards to the current operation cleanup.

  • Why are the trials of all criminals arrested not being expedited?

  • Why are the 'Real' killers of the Baldia Town terrorism/massacre not being booked and tried in court?

  • Why aren't the masters of a notorious  'Liyari Criminal' being brought to justice?

  • Why is it that the 'Clients' of a 'model/actress' arrested on charges of illegal money trafficking not being questioned?

  • Why the corrupt politicians bureaucrats, policemen, members of the judiciary, MPAs, MNAs and rogue law enforcement officials not being stopped and punished?

  • Why does it seem that the current operation has come to it premature end without any worthwhile results?

It is hoped and prayed for that the corrupt and criminal elements of our society are once and for all brought to justice regardless of their power, authority, affiliation, ethnicity, cast or creed.

A Wrong Is A Wrong!

I recently read an article under the title of “Camel piss drinker V/S Jalebi Mullah” and was actually forced to comment on this pathetic school of thought after reading the whole thing. It is so ironic that people try to defend actions that are wrong in every sense of the matter.

Talking about homosexuality and other related terms, homos are present in each and every society. Be it any religion, cast or creed, there have been homos, thieves, public enemies, swindlers, hypocrites, you name it, in all societies of this world. Moral, social, ethical and all other sorts of corruption prevails in each and every society on large or small scales. However, this does not at all mean that people start coming up giving excuses for such actions. Moreover, they do not have an inkling of the consequences while trying to justify such actions. What is wrong is WRONG and will remain wrong no matter how many try to justify wrong and evil acts.

I’ll give an example here.  Earning a living for oneself and family is a basic human right, but doing that through illegal means can never be justified in any society. Likewise, sexual gratification is a basic human right, but having that through unnatural or illegal means can never be justified. Next time people will start demonstrating in favor of rape. That won’t make it right! It is not about human rights, it is about RIGHT and WRONG. Consumption of alcohol has not been permissible by any religion but it prevails even in most Muslim dominated parts of the world. This however does not mean that it is right to consume alcohol. Similarly, infidelity is unacceptable in all religions and societies but it prevails in almost all parts of the world. Does this mean infidelity should be allowed? So should be the case with homosexuality.

Moreover, terrorism is unquestionably deplorable but not in the eyes of the terrorists. Should we accept it as a norm because a certain number of people agree with it? Of course not! Then why should we accept homosexuality just because it is accepted by some people? A wrong is a wrong!

My questions to all those liberalists are as under:

Why should we accept the wrongs and evils of societies just because it is practiced?
Why shouldn’t we condemn what is wrong?
Why should shamelessness be allowed?

Either you accept it, or condemn it! There is nothing in between. It is a fact that homosexuality is not permissible in any religion and it should be condemned. It doesn’t mean people start gay bashing. Instead, there should be laws to curb such activities just like there are for corruption and other social sins.
I am not in favor of any kind of extremism, religious or otherwise. However, there should always be a line between what’s right and what’s wrong. The advice to people like the writer of the article is to perceive the legitimacy of an act first and then try giving an opinion. Besides, never mock people’s beliefs in any manner just because you belong to a different school of thought.

Interesting Information About Gas Remote Control Helicopters!

Who says gas remote control helicopters are now a thing of the past?
It is a well-known fact that expert RC helicopter pilots genuinely prefer gas remote control helicopters over electric powered RC helis. The primary reason for this preference is that flying gas remote control helicopters is quite the same as flying a real helicopter. Not only that the sound of gas remote control helicopters gives an enthralling and exciting feeling, the unavoidable smell of burning fuel adds greatly to the thrill and joy of the sport itself.
You might have definitely heard the saying that “When The Going Gets Tough – The Tough Get Going”, as a matter of fact, this applies exactly in the same sense to being able to own and operate gas remote control helicopters. It is a well known fact that when a hobby gets the most of you, everything about it starts becoming more and more serious in complete contrast to what some people might think of it. When people start taking their hobbies seriously, they make every effort to make them more enjoyable and exhilarating.
All those RC enthusiasts who own gas remote control helicopters not only take pleasure in flying this exciting machine but they also take pride in the handling and maintenance of their RC helis. They are so much absorbed in the technicalities and up keep of their equipment that doing this job eventually becomes a twin hobby for them. The high price of gas remote control helicopters becomes a minor issue for these RC heli buffs as they are more driven by passion than simple cost effective recreation.
While discussing more about gas remote control helicopters, let’s take the engine first. The engine used in a conventional gas RC helicopter is not very different from a two stroke single cylinder motorcycle engine that is well known for its power and speed. Similarly, the fuel it uses is a mixture of regular gasoline and two stroke mobile oil. The engine capacity for typical gas RC helicopters ranges between 20 cc to 30 cc and could possibly go over 30 cc in case of custom built RC helis.
Generally, gas remote control helicopters come in large sizes because of the engine size required for such machines. The rotor diameter of a typical gas RC helicopter starts from a bit over 1400 mm which is equal to about 57 inches and goes to 2000 mm which is equal to 80 inches. However, custom-made gas RC helicopters may have smaller or higher rotor diameters in proportion to their particular specifications. This means that if you want to have a large sized RC helicopter for yourself but do not wish to pay a relatively large amount of money for it, you can opt for a gas powered remote control helicopter in place of one with a turbine engine.
While talking of large sizes, it will definitely not be out of place to mention that large sized RC helicopters have certain advantages over smaller RC helis. Due to their larger size and obviously heavier weight, they are a great deal more stable during flight in strong weather conditions. Flying a remote controlled helicopter in strong winds can no doubt be a thrilling experience for many enthusiasts.
The additional gear that is required for gas RC helicopters is not very much different from the one that goes with other RC helis. For example the radio remote control device or unit (transmitter and receiver), the gyro and other equipment required for a gas powered RC heli is quite identical to the one that comes with nitro powered or turbine helicopters. You may go for a self start version or can get a pull start type of ignition system to start the engine of the helicopter. For user convenience, many gas powered helicopter engines have both these options.
If you are a starter RC heli user, you might be required to do some practice on a lighter and smaller type of RC helicopter in order to get used to handling such equipment. This for instance may be a cheaper electric powered RC helicopter. You should also keep in mind that one should always practice on lighter and cheaper equipment before taking that big leap. Once you are through with the basic flying practice with lighter electric powered RC helis, you can then move up to medium weight machines and subsequently to the larger and heavier class such as the classic gas remote control helicopters.
In the end I reiterate that fact that gas RC helicopters require extensive and regular maintenance as well as a lot of love and care not to mention quite a few bucks as well. On the other hand I assure you that with big and heavy gas remote control helicopters; you can most certainly stand out of the crowd and above all, have the respect that goes with owners of such classic machines.
